Publications

In Singapore more than a hundred articles commenting on corporate, economic as well as social aspects were published in  Views From The Top, The Business Times from 2005 to 2011 . These articles have been compiled into a book form but not yet published.

Every week, invitation will come from Business Times for the commentary on topic that is  hot in discussion in the business community. These topics cover wide range of areas such as trend in economy, healthcare,  technology,  competitiveness, pay of top executives, intended development projects such as integrated resorts, living environmental problems, tourism, making of entrepreneurs, and quality of service, budget and tax rate, youth of Singapore, employability of older workers, innovation and creativity etc.

Each commentary is about 100 words, with suggestions to make improvements of what is required in Singapore.

Authors

Mr Tan Kok Leong, the founder and owner, is the author of two books, one written in Chinese and another in English. The titles of them are Modern Economics and A Hundred Commentaries on Economic, Corporate and Social Issues in Singapore.

Modern Economics was published by Nanyang Siang Pau, the Leading Chinese Newspaper in Singapore in June and July 1980. The Book consists of  20 articles, all  on the working of the economy in modern world. It includes the role of government in the modern economy, the purpose of investment, the boom and bust of the business cycle, the deficit financing, the fiscal policy, what is money, the value of money, the monetary policy of the government, the quantity theory of money, trade and tariffs, inflation and stagnation, secret of economic growth, what is full employment, Interdependent of world economy etc.

A hunddred commentaries on economic, corporate and social issues in Singapore were published in View of the Top  The Business Times from Nov 2005 to 2011. Issues covered include creativity in buisness, growth of business with China, should companies encourage whistle-blowing, cash payments to shareholders, competition act , benefits of Government Budget to business, employability of older workers, business prospects in the economy, What is business-friendly Government Budget, how to help start-up businesses, traditional business markets and non-traditional, high growth companies, attendance in AGM. ideal qualiification of Chief Financial Officer, the business of being young, the challenge of US Dollars, World Cup and who will win, quality of service in Singapore, role of Japan as economic leader, how to reward employees,  the ageing population in Singapore, the workforce of Singapore, global monetary disorder, Malaysian budget, flooding problem in Singapore, cycling culture in Singapore, towards a gracious society, tribute to Goh Keng Swee, a director and his directorship, the prospects of interest rates, Singapore and rising Asia etc.
